Dear Neighbors in Congressional District 2,
All too often, I have heard this politician and that politician reciting the same old chorus. “I’m going to run for Congress because such and such is wrong and I’m going to go to Washington, D.C. and fix it.” Yet, things remain broken, and more are broken every year. And that’s because the power elites in the capitol will only slap Federal Band-Aids on Local and State injuries, bringing little healing at tremendous expense.
That’s not what the U.S. House of Representatives was established to do. It does not exist to micromanage our lives, least of all with intrusive rules pursuing ineffective ideas.
The overreach of this collection of insulated busybodies, disconnected from reality, has led us to a point of great peril. Congress has brought us crushing debt—passing the bill to a following generation of Americans, ranging from those who are struggling to start out on their lives to those who have yet to be born. Congress has failed to restrain the use of our military to its intended purpose, to the detriment of ourselves and others abroad. Congress has invented, usurped, and abused power it was never meant to have, and all to further the ambitions and beliefs of a self-serving few.
Fixing the U.S. House requires a reckoning… and a recovery of the power for discovering and implementing solutions back to where it always belonged: at home with the People themselves.
I’m asking for your vote to dispatch me to the United States House of Representatives— not to accrue power for myself or launch a political career of vanity, but as your hands and voice in that distant and out-of-touch Capital—to return the power over your life back to you. Let us accomplish this together this year.
